Our Team

Mahmoud Mobir is the Founder and Director of ClimateMinds, driven by a passion to build robust, locally-led energy system modeling capacity across the African continent. Drawing on his deep expertise as a senior energy system modeler and his own African heritage, Mahmoud established ClimateMinds to address the critical need for tailored analytical tools and empowered local experts to guide Africa's diverse energy transitions towards sustainable development.

He currently serves as a Senior Analyst in International Energy and Climate at Rhodium Group, a leading independent research firm. In this role, Mahmoud leads complex global power sector modeling efforts and contributes to analysis on international decarbonization pathways and energy policy. His prior experience includes energy modeling and analysis roles at major European energy players GRTgaz and Schneider Electric, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of energy systems from grid operations to strategic planning.

Mahmoud holds a Master of Science in Operations Research applied to Energy Systems from École des Mines de Paris and a Master's degree in Fluid Dynamics from INP Toulouse, equipping him with advanced quantitative and analytical skills. Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, he brings a unique combination of technical depth, international perspective, project leadership, and a steadfast commitment to fostering data-driven energy solutions for Africa's future. ClimateMinds is initially operated through his established company based in France, with a long-term vision for establishing a dedicated entity on the African continent.
